UX - University Website Update

Role

As the lead designer for the websites update, I contributed to the research, designs, iterations, and presentation of Dominican's website's update.

I conducted research by doing a website audit, conducted user interview, surveyed staff and students, competitor analysis, and attended a higher education UX webinar. This aided me in identifying key issues to address.

When updating the design I sketched out new ideas, presented design directions to stakeholders, and converted sketches to high fidelity designs in Figma, and orchestrated photoshoots to update content.

I conducted usability tests, revised the homepage, and presented back to the stakeholders for final approval. From there I passed the Figma file off to the developer, answered any questions that came up, and celebrated the moment the website went live.

Outcome

Reduced scrolling by 37%, improved site SEO by updating copy and content, and Improved mobile loading times by saving all images to web to reduce file size.

Dominican University of California wanted to update their website starting with the homepage. The old website was having issues directing users to their desired information, housed outdated content, and slow mobile load times. After conducting research, creating low and high fidelity mockups, usability testing and revisions, and presenting back to the stakeholders, I was able to hand off the Figma files to the developer. I was able to reduce scrolling by 37%, improve site SEO, and improved loading times.
